Virginia DAR Chapter Hosts Genealogy Workshop for the African-American Community
Ruth D. Hunt led a successful genealogy workshop, "Finding Your Roots," in Roanoke, VA, focusing on African American ancestry. Hosted by the Colonial William Preston DAR Chapter and the Historical Gainsboro Public Library, the event attracted over 80 participants. Hunt emphasized the growing interest among women of color in genealogy and the DAR, which supports lineage research.


Workshop with the
Veterans Genealogy Group
This was a free and very informative workshop offering an opportunity for veterans to trace their family history.
Participants learned how to create a family tree and trace their family lineage, as well as how to identify family health patterns so they can take steps for prevention, early detection and screening.
