2024 Black History Month Celebration - Genealogy as Power - History as Proof, with Ruth D. Hunt. New York City Health + Hospitals proudly hosted a Black History Month Celebration for the African American and Caribbean American Inclusion Group, featuring a dynamic three-part genealogy workshop presented by Ruth D. Hunt, family historian, genealogist and community educator. Designed for beginners and seasoned researchers alike, the workshop guided participants through the fundamentals and the deeper work of family history research: How to get started: An introduction to Genealogy; Digging Deeper: Tracing Your Family History; Uncovering Hidden Treasures: Your Findings—Knowledge is Power. The sessions were practical, engaging, and grounded in traditional research standards, while encouraging participants to reclaim stories too often lost to silence or neglect. Attendees left empowered with tools, confidence, and a renewed understanding that genealogyis not merely a hobby - it is an act of preservation and self-determination. This Black History Month program stood as a reminder that when communities are equipped to document their past, they gain clarity about their present and authority over their future.

July 14, 2019 - The Fuel for the Spirit hosted a moving on-air tribute to E. Patricia Hunt, lead by the dynamic broadcaster Denise Richardson. This heartfelt program honored a woman whose life quietly shaped generations and whose spirit continues to guild those she loved. The tribute unfolded through voices that knew her best. Her daughters, Ruth D. Hunt and Angela Hunt- Phipps, spoke with grace and truth about their mother's strength, wisdom and unwavering love. Longtime family friends Ronald Watford and Gloria Ramsey added depth and rememberance, offering reflections that painted a fuller portrait of a life well lived and faithfully given. More than a memorial, the broadcast was a testimony. Story were shared, lessons affirmed, and values passed forward-faith, dignity, perserverance, and service. This radio tribute stood as it should - honoring E. Patricia Hunt not only for who she was, but for what she built in others. Her legacy was spoken clearly, and it was heard. E. Patricia Hunt passed from this life on February 27, 2019, and was gently called home to the heavens, where she now rests in the loving arms of the Lord. Though our hearts still feel the ache of her absence, heaven gained a soul of rare tenderness, strength, and faith. She was more than a mother - she was a quiet refuge, a steady voice, and a living example of love in action. Her prayers covered her family, her wisdom guided them, and her compassion softened every space she entered. Even now, her presence is felt in the values she planted, the lessons she lived, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. We grieve because we loved deeply, yet we rejoice in knowing she is whole, at peace, and forever wrapped in divine care. Her life did not end; it ascended. And in the still moments, when memories rise unbidden, we are remined that her spirit walks with us still-watchful, loving , and eternal. She is not gone. She is gathered and she is at peace
